The three remaining sessions include: • March 29 – ‘Financing Options for your Business’ with Vonnie Barnett. This seminar will explore a variety of funding alternatives, including self-funding, angel funding, venture capital, grants, conventional loans, & special loan programs specifically for small businesses. • April 26 – ‘Preparing to Launch the Business’ with Lisa Bryan & Dustin Pratt. This seminar will provide participants with the tools to launch their business venture. We will focus on the elevator pitch, accessing capital, bootstrapping, utilizing social media to market your business, and business plan competitions. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will offer a program on the history of Vermillion before the 1881 flood on Feb. 24. OLLI is affiliated with USD and winter term catalogs are available at the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce or by contacting Ted Muenster at 677-6708. The 2011 VCDC Annual Banquet will be Friday, Feb. 25 at the Muenster University Center (MUC) Ballroom with social at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Keynote speaker: Mike Knutson, Rural Learning Center & author of the Reimagine Rural Blog. Vermillion Special Olympics Polar Plunge – Vermillion Special Olympics will be hosting the second annual Polar Plunge fundraiser – Freezin' for a Reason! The Plunge will take place April 10 at 2 p.m. (registration from 12:30 to 2 p.m.) in the high school parking lot. Jumpers will plunge into a lined dumpster filled with very cold water! The cost is $100 to jump with the price including a free t-shirt and meal at the after jump party. For $25, children can take the plunge into a kiddie pool filled with warm water with the price including a free t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and top money raisers.
