The third Annual Parade of Lights is Friday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Vermillion celebrating “The Spirit of Christmas.” At the end of the parade please join Santa & Mrs. Claus as they light the Community Christmas Tree at Ratingen Platz on the corner of Market & Main St. After the tree lighting, children and parents are invited to the Vermillion Public Library for "Stockings for Soldiers," an opportunity to make an ornament to take home and to decorate a stocking for a soldier serving overseas. Would they like to be in South Dakota year round, if only they could find the right career opportunity? In an effort to bring more of that great South Dakota talent back home, the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation created the Dakota Roots program. Dakota Roots joins citizens, business leaders, and state government in a successful, on-going initiative to grow the South Dakota workforce. Dakota Roots is the largest state job search database where both the workers and employers can reach out to one another to fill great jobs right here in South Dakota. Millage graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
