Trisha Boese at Trinity Lutheran Church now calls Vermillion home, along with her husband, Kyle, and their 10-month old daughter, Amelia. She’s hesitant to claim a single community as her hometown. She was installed as pastor at Trinity Lutheran in July 2010. Before accepting the call to Vermillion, she served as pastor at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. This year, through adoption, the Boeses became the proud parents of an infant daughter, Amelia, who turned 10 months old Dec. 2. Her adoption was finalized Nov. 30. “Vermillion kind of felt like home before I 2012 Ford Focus SE even got here,” Trisha said. “There were a lot of meetings and gatherings that happened in Vermillion for pastors in the area to come to, so I was a little bit acquainted with Vermillion before, and of course my husband is a USD grad.” One may conclude that Trisha decided to follow in her father’s footsteps. He served in the parish for well over 40 years, and of course, pastors never retire. They just go out to ‘pastor’,” she said laughing. “He still subs.” Trisha must fulfill many, varied responsibilities at Trinity Lutheran. The most rewarding aspect of her work is something that may not show up regularly on a “to do” list of daily tasks. It’s something a bit too special to ever become routine. “What I like best about my job is helping people see and experience their own spiritual gifts,” Trisha said, “because it covers so many different areas. If you can help a teenage kid pick up a hammer and work with the rest of the guys on some fix-up project, or help a new couple get involved with choir or working with youth … it’s just great to see them get active and invested in their faith community, and in their community at large. “I think as we become more invested in our faith community, I think we also become better citizens,” she said.
