The community of Wakonda and the surrounding
area is hosting a benefit for
Doug Ganschow of Wakonda.
Doug has been diagnosed
with incurable Stage 4 Sarcomatoid Renal Cell Carcinoma
(kidney cancer which has
spread to lungs and other
parts of the body). He is currently resting comfortably at
home surrounded by family
and friends.
Doug has an amazing
support system, including
his wife Pam (Anderson)
and two children. Their
daughter Staci, married to
Daniel Larson, lives outside

of Volin with their four
children Abby 14, Molly
11, Keeley 9, and Nathan 6.
Their son Robert Ganschow
lives in Wakonda, conveniently across the driveway
from Doug and Pam. Doug is
the oldest of four brothers
born to Robert (deceased)
and JoAnn Ganschow of
Wakonda. His siblings are
Dennis (Kathy Taylor) Ganschow, Darby (Cathy) Ganschow, and David (Brenda)
Ganschow. All four brothers
live in Wakonda. Doug also
has two brother-in-laws

Doug was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts where
his father was serving in
the military. At the age of
one, his family moved to
Wakonda, SD and he has
lived there ever since. Doug
is hardworking, generous,
and devoted to his family,
friends, and community. He
graduated from Wakonda
High School in 1973 and
married his high school
sweetheart Pam Anderson in
1974. He has farmed since
1973 and raises cattle with
his son and son-in-law. He
just completed 25 years of
service at the University
of South Dakota where he
served in many departments
and finished his career as a
structural supervisor.
In his free time, Doug
has enjoyed playing men’s
fast-pitch and slow-pitch
softball, bowling, coaching
girls softball, golfing, fishing,
hunting, playing pinochle
and cribbage, and attending
as many of his grandchildren’s events as possible.

Manufacturing Engineer: Develops and implements cost-effective manufacturing
processes in support of customer requirements and quality standards. Responsibilities
include supporting production/quality operations, and project management. This
position develops tools, techniques, and systems to drive effective utilization of
resources with focus on continuous improvement.
Electromechanical Technician: The EM Tech conducts, maintains, tests and repairs
electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
The position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles
in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to
operation. The EM Tech provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support
to all areas of manufacturing.
Quality Technician-In Process Inspector: plays an essential role in our business
verifying product conformance to the customers’ dimensional criteria. This position
also interacts with our internal customers to provide guidance on external customers’
requirements. This individual is a proven performer with high attention to detail and
possesses strong organizational skills while taking direction from several different
functions.
CNC Loader Level II: part of the manufacturing team and will assist with the loading
and unloading of CNC machines. The position requires an individual to efficiently load
material and keep their responsible machines running at all times with the ability to
understand basic quality measuring devices and blueprints. This individual will also be
expected to have good communication skills and work as an integral part in a team
environment.
Drill and Deburr: part of the finishing team and will deburr customer products using
a wide array of procedures and tooling. This individual must have the ability to deburr
simple to complex components, follow work instructions, understand basic prints, and
use measuring devices.
