Broadcaster Press 5 May 31, 2016 www.broadcasteronline.com National Music Museum To Host Ukulele Master And Workshop, June 18 The tiny guitar-like ukulele has been staging a powerful comeback, through indie-rock tunes, Internet videos, and growing fan clubs. The resurgence in the instrument’s popularity—some consider this the ‘Golden Age’ of ukes—has musicians of all levels and ages engaged. One of the masters of the ukulele, Kimo Hussey, will be at the National Music Museum, in Vermillion, on Saturday, June 18, 2016, for a special ukulele workshop. Kimo Hussey, one of Hawaii’s preeminent ukulele players and teachers, will make a one-day-only appearance in South Dakota, as part of a national workshop circuit. The event’s schedule will include an 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ukulele session led by Hussey. People with all levels of ukulele experience are welcome. Lunch, which will include a door-prize drawing, will be provided from 12:30-1:30 p.m., after which there will be time to explore the Museum. From 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., Hussey will perform an exclusive concert, playing ukuleles from the National Music Museum’s collections, such as the exceptional Stradelele ukulele by Joel Eckhaus (Geoffrey Robert Rezek collection), which was custommade and inspired by the National Music Museum’s own rare Antonio Stradivari guitar. Kimo Hussey will also perform on instruments built by South Dakotan ukulelecraftsmen Dan Ryerson and Josh Rieck. According to National Music Museum Curator of Stringed Instruments Arian Sheets, “The ukulele’s sweet sound, transportability, easy Dave Says Insurance for Young Couple Classifieds … A sure bet! We both also have 401(k) plans at work, and we’re looking forward to starting additional investments later this year. Right now, we’re trying to decide on which life insurance policies to buy. I know you always recommend term insurance, but how long should the coverage last? Would you suggest 15-, 20- or 30-year policies? Anonymous The Stradelele ukulele, National Music Museum, Vermillion basic technique, and the ability it gives people to participate in community music have made it a wonderful instrument for beginning and advanced musicians alike.” The inclusive attendance fee of $85 will cover the workshop with Kimo Hussey, lunch, the ukulele concert, and National Music Museum admission.
