2 Broadcaster Press October 17, 2017 www.broadcasteronline.com Firefighters’ Celebration The Vermillion Fire Department hosted an open house Wednesday night where community members were given the opportunity to sit in fire trucks and an ambulance, try on fire equipment and use a bounce house. Children in attendance were given their own fire hats and have their faces pained. The open house was highlighted with members of the fire department demonstrating the jaws of life. Both officers have been essential members of the Vermillion Fire Department over the years. As assistant chiefs they are responsible for taking command and acting in other senior roles during fire and other emergency incidents. They’ve dedicated their talents and countless hours of their time, and much of the department’s success can be attributed to the unwavering service of Keith and John. He oversees Rescue Operations and the Wildland Division. Assistant Fire Chief John Walker has served on the department for 31 years. He oversees Fire Ground Operations and Training.
