Nonpoint source pollution originates
from many sources, including heavily
fertilized lawns, urban runoff that carries
street and pet wastes, agricultural fields,
small livestock operations and natural
sources, such as highly erosive soils. The
primary nonpoint source pollutants in
South Dakota are sediment, phosphorus,
nitrogen and E. coli bacteria.

Barb Stork Appointed
To Board Of Regents
PIERRE, S.D. – Barb Stork, a retired businesswoman
from Dakota Dunes, has been named to the South Dakota Board of Regents by Gov. Kristi Noem.
The South Dakota Board of Regents is the constitutional governing board for the state’s six public
universities and two schools serving special K-12
populations.
“It is an honor to be asked to serve on the Board of
Regents and to help with the board’s strategic plan for
student success, academic quality, economic development, and affordability,” Stork said. “The regents have
an immense task in overseeing that public education
both prepares and rewards the students. I am excited
to help support the continued success of our students.”
Stork founded and, from 1989 to 2016, served as
CEO of Midwest Provisions Inc., a multi-million-dollar
contract food service company serving large corporations throughout the Midwest from South Dakota to
Texas.
She also served as chair of the Sanford Health
System Board of Trustees and is a past chairwoman of
the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. A native of
Ute, Iowa, Stork earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Texas A&M University
in Canyon, Texas.
Stork fills an expired term on the Board of Regents
previously held by David Mickelson. Her six-year term
of appointment continues through March 31, 2025.
Athlete Spotlight
Taylor Reuvers
Taylor Reuvers is in 4th grade and on the summer softball
team. Her favorite position to play is second base. “I have
learned that good teamwork is all about communication and
working hard together to win,” said Reuvers.
Reuvers’ favorite thing about summer softball is “spending
time with the girls on the field and in the dugout.”
Reuvers also plays basketball, golf and soccer. Other activities
that she enjoys are swimming, biking and listening to music.
“I like to trade sports cards with friends, camping and
outdoors activities with family and supporting my
Hawkeyes and Coyotes,” said Reuvers when she is not involved
in sports. Reuvers’ words of advice are “work hard, be a
good teammate, and have fun.”
