Broadcaster Press 7 October 22, 2019 www.broadcasteronline.com South Dakota Department Of Tourism Wins Award For Industry Website PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Tourism and marketing agency Miles Partnership were awarded a 2019 WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development by the Web Marketing Association. The winning entry was the launch of the department’s new industry website, SDVisit.com. “We are honored to be recognized with this award after a very thoughtful effort went into building this new website,” said James Hagen, Secretary of the Department of Tourism. “We couldn’t be happier with how the site turned out, and we are confident that our tourism industry partners are finding it to be useful and helpful. To hear the judges call it a ‘fantastic site’ is very rewarding.” The Department of Tourism recognized that its old industry website was dated and difficult to navigate. With that realization in mind, the department sought to build a new website that would incorporate the latest web development techniques while providing information such as research and reports, marketing programs, training resources, an industry toolkit, industry events, the latest news, and information about the Department of Tourism staff. “The Department of Tourism continues to prove that its work is top-notch,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “I’m proud of their accomplishments and the emphasis they’re placing on providing resources to our state’s tourism industry partners. That’s what public service is all about – doing what we can to serve the needs of our public – and the tourism team is doing just that.” The South Dakota Department of Tourism is comprised of Tourism and the South Dakota Arts Council. The department is led by Secretary James Hagen. Auctions Land & Property • Antiques • Consignments • Farm • Auto & more... Upcoming Auctions GFP Commission Adjusts Aquatic Invasive Species And Containment Waters Lists CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – With the discovery of zebra mussels in Lake Sharpe and the high probability of the mussels being present in Lake Francis Case, the Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission added those reservoirs to the list of designated containment waters for aquatic invasive species (AIS) management. The commission also added spiny waterflea, round goby, and white perch to the AIS list in South Dakota. In addition, the commission simplified fish importation rules by allowing for a single importation permit from an out-of-state source to be valid for a year from the importer’s last inspection, and to list which fish species need to be tested for specific disease-causing pathogens, as part of the importation process.
