With rising costs and fewer donations over the past two years we need to seek additional funding sources in order to offer this event to the community. Our goal is to raise an additional $4,000 so we really need your assistance. Volunteers have been approaching businesses with canisters to place at the register to help raise the necessary funding. If you have not yet been approached by volunteers and are willing to have a canister placed in your business, please contact the VCDC of?ce (624-5571) and we will deliver one. Also, if your business is willing to make a separate contribution to the celebration it would be greatly appreciated. Flood Volunteers Needed: • to help with meals for the National Guard troops. VCDC Annual Golf Social June 28! The 4Person Best Ball Scramble Golf Tournament will begin with team sign-in at The Bluffs Golf Course followed by pictures at 11:45 a.m. and the open format shot gun start at 1 p.m. The buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the golf awards and door prizes. Announcement: In preparation for our annual July 4th Celebration we are seeking food vendors, merchandise vendors, arts & craft vendors, and children’s activities. We are also seeking volunteers to help with the event. As in previous years, the celebration will be at Barstow Park from 6 p.m. to dark, followed by ?reworks. Entertainment options will include music, an activity area for kids, Hy-Vee’s Fifth Annual Hot Dog Championship, the Eagles Beer Garden, and more. “Fun in the Sun” will be at Prentis Park Pool from 9 to 11 a.m. If you would like to participate or have any questions please contact Ann at the VCDC of?ce 624-5571 or email annb@vermillionchamber.com. The Vermillion Area Community Foundation is accepting proposals for projects to improve our community. Forms for submitting proposals by groups or organizations are available at the Chamber of Commerce of?ce. While funds available are limited we can fully fund small one time requests or partially fund larger projects. Your annual donations to our Foun- dation will provide us with increasing funds each year for worthwhile projects. Business After Hours: Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase your business and network with your peers? Sign up to host a Business After Hours event! These events generally run from 5 to 7 p.m. on a weeknight and the hosting business provides hors d’oeuvres and refresments.
