1. Sanford Medical Center Vermillion is
pleased to welcome the first baby of 2012.
Braxton Theodore Moeller was born on Jan.
2, 2012 at 10:58 p.m. to Derek and Crystal
Moeller of Vermillion. Braxton Theodore
weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 and
one-half inches long. Proud parents, Derek
and Crystal, and sister Aubri were very excited to learn that Braxton was the first baby of
the New Year born at Sanford Vermillion.
Braxton and his family were welcomed with a
gift bag from Sanford Vermillion as well as a
wide variety of wonderful gifts from many
Vermillion businesses. Congratulations and
best wishes to the Moellers!
2. Todd Zephier and Eliza Weddell of Wagner
welcomed a baby girl, Talilah, to their family
at 7:31 a.m. on New Year’s Day for the first
baby born at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in
2012. Talilah weighed eight pounds and a half
ounce and measured 20 and one quarter inches. The New Year’s Baby will join older brothers Tavis Has No Horse and Deke St. Pierre;
and sisters Kayden Zephier, Electra Weddell
and Lola Weddell.

5. Doug Kronaizl, a 2011 graduate of
Vermillion High School, was became an Eagle
Scout in an August 2011 ceremony. Doug, a
member of Troop 66 of Vermillion, earned this
presigious rank in Scouting by organizing the
repainting of the 50 states in front of St.
Agnes Elementary School. Doug led a group
of four made up of both Scouts and nonScouts. The paint for the project was donated
by Time Kelly at Diamond Vogel in Sioux City,
IA, and supplies were donated by Rodney and
Jill Schaffer. Doug joined the Cub Scouts
while a second grader, and has been involved
in Scouting since then. He has served as his
troop's historian and scribe, and most recently served as assistant senior patrol leader
with Tedd Schaffer. He is a member of the
