The first of these was a permit to exceed permissible sound levels by no more than 50 percent in the band shell area of Prentis Park June 5-10. “The actual festival is on June 8-11, but they’ll be doing some rehearsals (starting) on the fifth with the testing of the sound equipment and such,” explained finance officer Mike Carlson. The increased sound level permit will cover 6 to 10 p.m. on all of the affected days. The council also approved a motion to close east Main Street from Plum Street to Sycamore Street the night of the performances, so the sound of passing vehicles will not interfere with the production. The streets will be closed Jensen Construction • All Concrete Work • Foundation Repair • Stucco Repair • Demolition & Dirt Work from 7 to 9:30 p.m. – the approximate length of the show – each production night. According to Assistant City Manager Andy Colvin, a request also was submitted to remove parking on east Main Street along Prentis Park from 5 to 9:30 p.m., as well. While the intersection of east Main and Plum will remain open during the production, barricades will be used to close the street, which will be monitored by staff members. “All of the emergency departments have been notified that they’re going to be allowed to pass through,” Colvin said. All the motions were met with unanimous approval by the council.
