Attending the commissioning ceremony were her parent’s, Lanny & Vicki Walker & her great grandmother, Nancy Gourley, and members of the Army medical procurement unit. Walker’s grandfather Mayor Jay Gourley, as US Army Retired Major administered the commissioning oath. The ceremony was held in Vermillion where Lieutenant Walker is attending the University of South Dakota medical school. Upon graduation from medical school, Lieutenant Walker will be promoted to Captain and go on active duty where she will complete her residency training & service 4 years of active duty.
