Gabe’s story is a little different. He’s a person who just wants to be loved and doesn’t really get that a whole lot.” Some have learned how to deal with their own personal concerns while performing in the play. “The biggest thing I am taking away from this is to be able to take a look at my life through the shoes of somebody else,” Asfeldt, a junior, said. “My mother has very well managed depression that she was diagnosed with during college. Doing the show has been able me to understand more and deal with the fear of depression being a genetic thing. I’ve always been in the back of my mind of ‘what if the next one is me?’ “To see these different perspectives has been able to help me with saying, ‘so what?’ If it happens, great. If it doesn’t, great. It’s not like people who have it are lesser people they are just different people. Which is the whole human race.” The other challenge of playing in an intense role is dealing with the dual casts. “Once we got used to the flow of it, it’s actually been one of the smoothest projects I’ve worked on here,” Asfeldt said. “Everybody comes to rehearsal wanting to do well and succeed.” “The material makes you want to do good,” Gesicki said. “People are excited for us to do the show so we want to do good for them.
