Broadcaster Press 07 November 4, 2014 www.broadcasteronline.com POLICE REPORT Sunday, Oct. 19 1:52 a.m. – Officers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop for a stop sign. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. 1:56 a.m. – Officers received a report of a verbal altercation at a residence. On arrival, Officers contacted several people involved but all claimed no fight had occurred. One of the parties provided false information to an officer regarding her name and date of birth. She was intoxicated. Officers later identified her and referred charged for Minor possession/consumption of alcohol and false information. 3:45 a.m. – Caller reported unknown person(s) had entered a neighbors residence and possibly stolen items. Detectives were notified, under investigation. Monday, Oct. 20 6:25 a.m. – Caller reported that he had been assaulted and his wallet taken. Officers investigated but the caller was unwilling to provide suspect information for fear of retaliation. Under investigation. 3:44 p.m. – Caller reported being assault by her adult sister. Officers investigated and arrested the sister for domestic assault. Tuesday, Oct. 21 6:42 p.m. – Officers investigated a two vehicle injury accident. The driver who was at fault was cited for Careless Driving and No insurance. 8:00 p.m. – Complainant reported that a family member took his credit card and made several purchased. Under investigation. 10:59 p.m. – An officer stopped a vehicle for erratic lane travel. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. Wednesday, Oct. 22 1:06 a.m. – An Officer saw a woman staggering on the side of the road and fall down. He contacted the woman who was very intoxicated. He asked for identification, the woman opened her wallet and the officer could see an ID card, yet the woman denied having any id. Further investigation showed the woman was underage and had a false identification out of Illinois. The woman was cited and taken into protective custody until her father was located and came and took over her care. 7:58 p.m. – Officers responded to report of smoke coming from a residence. On arrival, the residence was cleared. There was lots of smoke but no sign of fire. Officers checked and found a hot plate with melted plastic toys on it. The Fire Department arrived and determined there were not other fire sources in the building. 11:12 p.m. – Officers responded to a complaint of a loud party. Officer found a group of underage people drinking alcohol at the party. 10 people were cited for underage consumption and two were cited for noise prohibition. Thursday, Oct. 23 9:23 a.m. – Complainant came to the station and reported she was shot. She said she was shot in the thigh by someone who does not think women should drive. She then identified another officer as the possible offender who had shot her. Officers saw no sign of injury to the woman's leg or any indication that she had been shot. 10:40 a.m. – Officers received an anonymous report that a parent was neglecting her child. Investigation did not find any information to support the allegations and investigators believe the estranged father of the child was responsible for the report. 5:50 p.m. – Caller reported he was assaulted by a man while shopping in a local business. Officers contacted the caller who was uninjured and stated a man who he had purchased a television from had grabbed him and was angry because he had not paid for the television. Under investigation. 8:18 p.m. – Officers and confidential informants under 21 years of age attempted to purchase alcohol from License Holders. Ten checks were conducted with seven businesses refusing the purchase and three allowing the purchase. The three employees who allowed the purchase were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. Friday, Oct. 24 2:56 a.m. – Officers responded to a residence regarding a report of a man trying to enter the wrong home. The man was highly intoxicated and entered the 1250 wrong home and taken off his clothing thinking he was home. Officers assisted the man in returning to his actual residence. 11:07 a.m. – Medical staff requested a welfare check on an elderly resident who was not answering the door and had not been heard from recently. Officers checked the residence and found the woman. She was alright. 6:36 p.m. – Caller, an off duty public safety employee, reported a man with a warrant at local convenience store. Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the man. Saturday, Oct. 25 9:27 a.m. – A local business reported the business had been entered by person(s) unknown during the night and money had been stolen. Several pieces of evidence were found and detectives are pursuing leads. Under investigation. 7:34 p.m. – Officers responded to an injury accident scene involving one vehicle. The driver was treated and transported by ambulance. Investigation revealed the driver was taking prescription drugs that effect driving, she was arrested for Driving while intoxicated. 7:51 p.m. – Caller reported her daughter was in a domestic dispute with a boyfriend. Officers responded and investigated. The daughter and boyfriend had argued and the boyfriend had assaulted the daughter. The boyfriend was arrested for domestic assault. He was also arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for domestic assault and intentional damage to property. 8:22 p.m. – An officer saw a vehicle speeding - 69mph in a 35mph zone. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and drove through stop signs without stopping. The vehicle was eventually stopped, and the driver was intoxicated, had a suspended driver's license and did not have insurance. The driver was arrested on multiple charges. 11:21 p.m. – Caller reported a group of men had set off the car alarm on her truck while walking by the home. Officers responded and followed several leads but were not able to locate the men involved. CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT Sunday, Oct. 19 10:53 a.m. – A deputy responded to a report of a theft of diesel fuel near Wakonda. It was found that a neighbor had taken the fuel which was OK with the owner. Monday, Oct. 20 8:10 a.m. – A vehicle was stopped for speeding in a school zone. The driver was cited for no valid driver's license and the vehicle was towed since no licensed driver was present. 9:00 a.m. – The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a student posting what appeared to be threatening photos on the internet. 9:04 a.m. – A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on University Road. 10:01 a.m. – Deputies responded along with EMS to a medical emergency in Meckling. 11:55 a.m. – The School Resource Officer investigated a minor accident in the High School parking lot. 1:11 p.m. – A patient was transported from the Nursing Home in Irene to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal. 7:19 p.m. – A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on University Road. Tuesday, Oct. 21 1:24 p.m. – A deputy responded to a report of a semi becoming stuck while leaving a filed approach and was blocking Greenfield Road. Traffic control was provided until the vehicle was pulled out by a tow service. 3:50 p.m. – The School Resource Officer investigated a report of a theft of money from a locker in the Vermillion High School. A juvenile suspect was found and charges will be considered by the State's Attorney. 7:32 a.m. - A deputy received a report of a rock being thrown up by a vehicle on Highway 46 cracking the windshield of another vehicle. 8:45 a.m. - A deputy stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The driver was not impaired but was arrested for a warrant from Union County. Wednesday, Oct. 22 2:09 a.m. – Deputies responded to a report of the sound of gunshots in Irene. No suspects were found and nothing was found to indicate that someone was firing a weapon. Statements were taken from witnesses. 10:22 a.m. – When an inmate turned himself in to serve a jail sentence, it was found that he was under the influence of alcohol and was under 21 years old. The man was cited for underage consumption. 1:50 p.m. – A deputy received a report from a Burbank woman who had lost her wallet. The woman was given advice on canceling credit cards and other methods to safeguard personal data. 9:08 p.m. – A deputy investigated a minor accident involving a car striking a raccoon on Highway 50 causing minor damage. Thursday, Oct. 23 10:23 a.m. – A deputy located a wanted person in Vermillion. The man was arrested and transported to jail. 12:06 p.m. – A patient was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.
