Stratman’s Success Comes Full Circle
to high finishes in both.
With track back around,
Stratman wants to cap a
strong senior campaign with
even more hardware.
“When you have success
in one sport, it carries over,”
Stratman said. “I had a lot
of success in football and
basketball this year. It makes
you want to do better.”
Stratman spent much of
the 2015 season battling with

diamond, helping Crofton
make the Nebraska Class
C Seniors American Legion
Baseball Tournament. In the
fall he was a key member of
a Wynot team that advanced
to the semifinals in the Class
D2 football playoffs. This past
winter he played a key role in
sending the Blue Devils to the
state Class D2 boys’ basketball tournament.
Part of what has helped
Stratman excel in not one,
but four, sports is his attention to detail, according to
Heimes, who also coached
Stratman in basketball.
“He wants to do well. He’s
a perfectionist,” Heimes said.
“He works hard at his craft.
He knows how to adjust if
something isn’t quite right,
especially in track. He knows
what his body can and can’t
do.”
While Stratman is excited
to defend his long jump title,
he wants to add a few more
medals to his resume.
“In long jump, I have the
school record and I want to
improve on that,” he said.
“I’m going to try for the 100
and 200 (meter dash) records
as well.”
Stratman is also motivated to achieve a goal that
he likely can’t get done on his
own: help the Blue Devils win
the team title at a track meet.
“Austin (senior thrower
Austin Lange) and I are
hyped up. We feel like we can
win one of these meets,” he
said. “I don’t know if, teamwise, we’ve won a meet.”
To aide in that effort,
Stratman has tried to bring
some of the many young
athletes for the Blue Devils
along.
“We have a lot of young
talent, and they’re all competitors,” he said. “I try to
do my best in teaching them,
helping them to learn new
things.”
