Cold Cut Sub, Baked Beans Governor Proclaims Human Resource Professionals Week in South Dakota In response to an initiative by the head of HR at the University of South Dakota, Gov. Dennis Daugaard has proclaimed Sept. 12-16 as Human Resource Professionals Week for the state of South Dakota to recognize key values the profession demonstrates as well as the vital role HR has in all state organizations. Last year, E. Lee Felder Jr., vice president for human resources at USD, prompted Daugaard to designate Sept. 1, 2015, as South Dakota’s first Human Resources Professional Day. This year, the proclamation was extended to a full week, he said. “It’s always refreshing to underscore the integral functions HR performs on a daily basis for the benefit of human capital and productivity impacting the entirety of our Great Mount Rushmore State,” Felder said. “Everyone can thrive with HR working side-by-side with other leaders exuding a strategic mindset, ensuring all employees are treated with fairness, equality, respect, dignity and equanimity while striving to always do and be the best for South Dakota.” To mark the week at USD, there will be a reception from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at the Muenster University Center, a brown bag luncheon featuring USD’s Chamber Music Group Ensemble from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the MUC ballroom and an open house from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in HR’s office at Slagle Hall, Room 206.
