PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota
Department of Transportation is now
accepting applications for its Community Access, Industrial Park and AgriBusiness Grant Program.
The Community Access Program
provides funds on a competitive basis

local roads such as the road to the
elevator, to the school or hospital and
in the main business district.

constructed will be considered.
The Industrial Park and Agri-Business

communities who have a new industry
or agri-business and need new or expanded access to the facilities.
Industrial Park and Agri-Business
applications will be considered three
times each year. These applications
are due April 15, July 15 and Oct. 15 of
each year. The applications will then be

The Oahe Mission was established
in 1874 by Rev. Thomas L. Riggs, a
Congregationalist minister, and his first
wife, Cornelia Margaret “Nina” Foster, to
serve as a mission to the Sioux Indians
of central South Dakota. The chapel,
built in 1877, was originally located on
the east bank of the Missouri River at
Peoria Flats, roughly five miles upriver
from its current location.
The chapel was moved to its current
location in 1964 after construction of
the Oahe Dam flooded the original site.
The chapel is owned by the South Dakota State Historical Society and managed by the Oahe Chapel Preservation
Society, which oversees its maintenance
and preservation.

Chapel summer services, the Oahe
