Friends Of The Library Presentation
On Belarus National Park Is Nov. 25
Vermillion, SD – A vast, primeval forest once stretched across the plains of
Europe. Today, only a small portion of it
remains, divided between Belarus and
Poland. Known as Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park (BPNP) in Belarus, this
region is made up of pine, spruce, birch
alder, ash, and oak trees that are over 550
years old. Thousands of species of flora
and fauna call the land their home.
Carol Patrick, the owner and founder
of Osa Wildlife Sanctuary in Costa Rica,
recently visited the European biosphere
reserve, and has been invited by the
Friends of the Vermillion Public Library to
share the information she gathered about
the conservation efforts being made to
protect this ancient land. She will speak at
11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 at the Vermillion Public Library.
The Friends of the Library will be serving lunch inspired by the culture of Belarus, and guests are welcome to bring their
own food. This event is free and open to
all. For more information, visit the Edith
B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library at 18
Church Street, Vermillion, SD, call 605-6777060 or see the library’s website at vermillionpubliclibrary.org.
