As part of the celebration, 37 student leaders came to Pierre Feb. 4-5, for the South Dakota Career and Technical Student Organizations’ Legislative Shadow Day. Activities included a social for students, legislators, cabinet members, and state agency staff. Students also shadowed legislators at committee meetings and observed House and Senate floor sessions. “When students engage in career and Stories you missed this week because you’re not a Plain Talk subscriber technical education, they experience handson learning that helps prepare them for highdemand careers,” said Governor Kristi Noem. “These groups are great ways for students to expand on their classroom learning, meet peers from across the state, and develop valuable leadership skills.” Students representing the following CTSOs attended this year’s event: Educators Rising; Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; FFA; SD HOSA, a group for stu- • AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR • PAINT • FRAMEWORK • GLASS REPLACEMENT HOURS: M-F 9AM-6PM A story about the discussions had at the first District 17 legislative Cracker Barrel session held in Vermillion Feb. 1. The meeting allowed the public to hear from District 17 Reps. Nancy Rasmussen and Ray Ring and District 17 Sen. Art Rusch, and to give them feedback. Regnerus is also on the high school and Yankton club soccer team. Outside of athletics, she is a member of the National Honor Society. Regnerus enjoys going to the lake and working at Charlie’s downtown. “When I am not participating in sports, I like to take naps, hang out with friends and family, and watch movies on Netflix,” said Regnerus.
