Students Visit Pierre For CTSO Legislative Shadow Day
PIERRE, S.D. – February is National Career
and Technical Education
Month. As part of the
celebration, 37 student
leaders came to Pierre
Feb. 4-5, for the South
Dakota Career and Technical Student Organizations’ Legislative Shadow
Day.
Activities included a
social for students, legislators, cabinet members,
and state agency staff.
Students also shadowed
legislators at committee
meetings and observed
House and Senate floor
sessions.
“When students
engage in career and

Governor Kristi Noem.
“These groups are great
ways for students to expand on their classroom

A story about the discussions had at the first District 17
legislative Cracker Barrel session held in Vermillion Feb. 1.
The meeting allowed the public to hear from District 17 Reps.
Nancy Rasmussen and Ray Ring and District 17 Sen. Art Rusch,
and to give them feedback.
A feature about Kids Climb Camp sessions currently being
offered at the University of South Dakota Wellness Center.

Cami Regnerus is a senior on the
Vermillion girls basketball team.
“My favorite thing about participating
in basketball is that I get to be active and play
with fun teammates,” said Regnerus.
Regnerus is also on the high school and
Yankton club soccer team.
Outside of athletics, she is a member
of the National Honor Society.
Regnerus enjoys going to the lake and
working at Charlie’s downtown.
“When I am not participating in sports, I like to
take naps, hang out with friends and family,
and watch movies on Netflix,” said Regnerus.
