The 4Person Best Ball Scramble Golf Tournament will begin with team sign-in at The Bluffs Golf Course at 11:45 a.m., followed by team pictures. The open format shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. The buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the golf awards and door prizes. July 4th Celebration: The Vermillion community is preparing for its annual July 4th Celebration with a call for donors, volunteers and vendors. This popular event at Barstow Park from 6 p.m. to dusk includes music by C and K Entertainment, the inflatable’s activity area for kids (with a $5 wristband), food booths, merchandise booths, the Eagles Beer Garden, Annual Hy-Vee Hot Dog Eating Contest and a spectacular fireworks ANN BREITAG display by Fireworks Unlimited. This event is not only enjoyed by the Vermillion residents, but it brings in people from surrounding communities which in turn brings money into Vermillion. Your donations are needed! In order for us to continue to provide the fabulous fireworks display and services each year, we need your generous donations. Would you like to volunteer? Volunteers are needed to help with the event. If you would like to volunteer your time and/or services please contact us. Food and non-food vendors are needed. Vendors are needed to sell food, merchandise, and arts and crafts. Organizations are welcome to use this opportunity as a fundraiser. Announcements: • Mentors Needed: The Clay-Union Foundation is seeking mentors to match with youth in the two counties. In Vermillion, a 16-year-old girl would like to be matched. In Elk Point, two 14-year-old girls, and a 13-year-old boy would like an adult mentor, and in Jefferson, a 12-year-old boy also wants a new friend. The public is cordially invited to attend a workshop on traditional Swedish music and dancing at 5:30 p.m., a Swedish potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. and a concert at 7:30 p.m. • The melodies of Maria’s fiddle and traditional wooden flutes join her husband Anders’ traditional lilting, vocals and guitar in a musical marriage. The result of their playful improvisation is an organic, living style of Swedish music. The event is sponsored by Vermillion Area Arts Council. A $5 donation to the VAAC is requested.
