AUSTIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
KINDERGARTEN:
GRADE 1:
1 – Set headphones for computer use (Please place in
plastic bag and label with child’s name - NO
EARBUDS PLEASE)
1 – Large backpack or book bag (to fit boots or shoes
and winter wear, as well as important papers,
library books, etc.)
2 – Double-pocket folders large enough for 9” x 12”
papers (bottom pocket is better than side pockets.)
Spiral-bound notebook, approximately 8” x 10” and
70 pages (to be used as writing journal)
2 – Sharpened Standard #2 pencils (may need to be
replaced later)
Large pink eraser (cute ones don’t work well)
4 – Glue sticks (may need to be replaced frequently)
2 – Bottles of white school glue 4 oz. (blue gel or no-run
glue or Ross brand are NOT recommended! They are
difficult to squeeze and clog the caps worse
than standard Elmer’s)
Scissors (small metal Fiskars with plastic handles work
best and will last for years)
1 – Box of 16-24 crayons, standard colors and size
(unless your child prefers large)
1 -- Set of markers (box)
1 – Set of watercolor paints, 8 colors including black
(Prang brand is especially good)
2 – Black dry erase markers
1 – Box facial tissues
1 – Set headphones (Please place in plastic bag with
both labeled with child’s name – NO EARBUDS

10 – #2 lead pencils (sharpened – no decorative pencils)
2 -- Large pink erasers OR package of pencil top erasers
