Broadcaster Press 09 February 3, 2015 www.broadcasteronline.com SHERIFF’S REPORT SUNDAY, JAN. 18 3:57 p.m. — Deputies responded to a medical emergency in Burbank and assisted until the arrival of EMS. 5:13 p.m. — A deputy investigated a domestic assault which took place in a vehicle on Burbank Road. The suspect had left the area. Charges are being considered. TUESDAY, JAN. 20 5:18 a.m. — A deputy transported a woman from Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal. 8:11 p.m. — A deputy transported an inmate from the Clay County Jail to the Yankton County Jail to meet a prisoner transport bus to Charles Mix County after the inmate was arrested in Vermillion on an outstanding Charles Mix County warrant and probation violation. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 21 4:21 a.m. — A rural resident called 911 and reported that her adolescent child was not breathing. The caller transported the child to Highway 50 where a deputy met her and the child. From observing the child, the deputy was able to determine that he was breathing and had normal skin coloration. The ambulance transported the child to the hospital for further evaluation. 3:21 p.m. — A deputy spoke with a rural resident about a fraudulent phone call she had received. The caller reported that she had received a call from a subject who claimed that she had defaulted on an internet loan and that the Attorney General's Office was going to issue a warrant for her arrest. The deputy explained to the reporting party that the call was fraudulent. THURSDAY, JAN. 22 8:22 a.m. — Deputies assisted with a death investigation in Vermillion and served as deputy coroners to certify the death. The cause of death is under investigation. Foul play is not suspected. 8:28 a.m. — Deputies investigated a two vehicle crash in Vermillion. It was discovered that one of the drivers had put his vehicle into reverse at a stop sign in an attempt to back into a local business' parking lot. The driver did not realize there was a vehicle stopped behind him and unintentionally collided with the other vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles. The driver of the front vehicle was cited for unsafe backing. 7:42 p.m. — A deputy located a woman with an active warrant in Vermillion. The woman was arrested and brought to the Clay County Jail. FRIDAY, JAN. 23 12:27 a.m. — A vehicle was stopped on Burbank Rd for speeding. During the traffic stop, the deputy detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver. It was discovered that the driver was under the legal limit and was therefore operating the vehicle legally.
