Broadcaster Press 13 January 27, 2015 www.broadcasteronline.com POLICE REPORT SUNDAY, JAN. 11 2:12 a.m. — Officers were dispatched to a residence for report of smoke detectors going off. They assisted the residents until the Fire Department arrived and addressed the fire hazard located in the home heating system. MONDAY, JAN. 12 9:14 a.m. — Officer responded to report of a vehicle parked blocking the driveway of a residence. After consulting the resident, the vehicle was issued a parking ticket for the obstruction. 6:36 p.m. — Officers and detectives assisted a property owner with locating their phone which had been stolen in Yankton. Once the phone was located at a residence in Vermillion, it was turned over to Yankton law enforcement for follow up on the theft of the phone. TUESDAY, JAN. 13 12:58 a.m. — An officer stopped a vehicle for having ice covered windows. During the stop, the officer discovered the driver's license was suspended. The driver was cited for driving with a Tell them you saw it in the Broadcaster! The caller was requesting assistance with removal of an unwanted person at the residence. Officers were able to alleviate tensions and assisted the unwanted person with leaving the residence. 7:06 p.m. — Officers responded to a medical incident where a subject was found laying on the floor. The subject became more alert as officers spoke with them and care of the subject was turned over to EMS once they arrived. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 14 2:17 a.m. — Officers responded to report of a dispute. Through their investigation, officers learned one subject had threatened and shoved a roommate. The subject was taken into custody for assault. 11:32 a.m. — Officers were sent to a resident for a welfare check due to family members being unable to make contact with them. Officers were able to locate the person and found them Read and Recycle to be okay. 11:35 a.m. — An officer responded to a traffic accident. It was found that one of the involved vehicles had failed to yield to the other and that driver was cited for a traffic violation. 11:50 a.m. — While performing follow up investigation regarding a dispute between persons from the night before, an officer discovered an assault had occurred. Once the subject was located and further evidence had been discovered, the officer took the subject into custody for assault related charges. 2:48 p.m. — An officer responded to a report of a dispute between apartment neighbors. The officer was able to assist in resolving differences regarding noise levels and complaints between the two neighbors. 5:56 p.m. — While patrolling, an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was given a warning for their speed. THURSDAY, JAN. 15 1:53 a.m. — While patrolling the downtown area, an officer located a subject urinating in the alley. After identifying the individual, they were cited for public urination. 11:55 a.m. — An officer took report of a stolen phone. The phone owner was able to utilize an app to locate their phone. Officers were later able to locate the phone with assistance of the owner at a residence in Vermillion. The subject in possession of the phone was cited for theft related charges. 11:22 p.m. — While performing a walk through of a bar, officers were directed by staff at the establishment to a subject who was under the age of 21. Officers identified the individual learning they were in fact under 21 and had been consuming alcohol. The individual was cited for underage consumption. FRIDAY, JAN. 16 2:01 a.m. — Officers responded to report of a disturbance where five males were shoving one another. On arrival, officers assisted those involved with resolving their differences and parting ways. driver was impaired. After performing road side sobriety tests, it was determined the driver was too impaired to operate a vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody for driving under the influence. SATURDAY, JAN. 17 12:53 a.m. — Officers responded to report of a possible disturbance. On arrival in the area, officers found the source of the noise and disturbance to be coming from a nearby house party. They made contact with the renters of the residence regarding the complaint who agreed to reduce the noise levels. As officers spoke with the renters, numerous party goers left on their own accord. 12:56 a.m. — While patrolling, officers were flagged down at a local establishment and learned the business had removed a patron and the patron was continually attempting to go back inside. They wanted the person to leave. As officers identified the person, they learned the individual had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. www.broadcasteronline.com Come Join Our... On arrival, officers located an intoxicated male who had entered the wrong house. The male was cited for alcohol violations and released. 4:11 a.m. — Officers were called to report of an unknown male attempting to get into the caller's residence. On arrival, officers located the male in a different apartment. After confirming with renters in the other apartment that they did not know the subject and he had not been invited in, the male was taken into custody for trespassing related charges. 2:32 p.m. — During an investigation, detectives learned that an involved party had outstanding warrants from a different county. Officers went and located the subject and took them into custody for the out of county warrants. 5:10 p.m. — An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding, 33 MPH in a 20 MPH zone.
