Dakota Days pep rally held
near the legacy coyote statue
on the USD campus this

A large crowd of USD
students, Dakota Days
Royalty, USD footballers
and USD alumni gathered
to revel in the spirit of
Dakota Days preceding the
weekend’s signature football
game against rivals
University of Northern
Iowa.
The pep rally began with
a humorous competition
between USD footballers to
determine whom among
them could most quickly
thaw a frozen USD athletics
t-shirt and subsequently
wear it. The competition
was soon recognized by the
athletes to be more difficult
than initially thought.
“How quickly did you
expect us to do this
realistically?” one
competitor questioned.
Soon thereafter the tshirts were thawed and
donned, many of them torn
in the process, head coach
Joe Glenn gave a rousing
speech to the assembled
crowd.
“The team with the best
crowd behind them will win
this game,” said Glenn of
the upcoming USD–UNI
football game. “I know that
On Last Tuesday evening,
Aalfs Auditorium on the
USD campus was once again
filled to capacity for a
number of very special
events.
The stars of the evening
were the students of USD
who performed their various
talents for an eagerly
animated crowd of their
peers.
The event began with a
technical acoustic guitar piece
played by Steven Payne that
involved two handed playing
and fret tapping, which left
the crowd mesmerized.
More exotic instruments
were then brought to the
stage, as Caitlin Sagirs
performed a short piece on
the bagpipes. The musical
acts continued with various
pianists, guitarists and
vocalists.
The talent show wasn’t
entirely centered about
