Haley attends the University of South Dakota majoring in nursing. In Haley’s spare time, she likes to watch Grey’s Anatomy. Deb McManigal Sanford Vermillion November 2015 PRIDE Employee of the Month Vermillion, SD – Deb McManigal, Restorative Aide, Sanford Care Center Vermillion, was selected as the November Sanford Vermillion PRIDE Employee of the Month. She has been employed with Sanford since July 2011. Deb was previously recognized as Employee of the Month in December 2014. Nominations for Deb included the following: Deb is a team player, reliable and dependable; well thought of by staff and residents. She does a great job motivating residents to do their restorative care. She is loyal to her roles and responsibilities as a restorative aide. She is innovative finding solutions and new ways to do things. She is all about the residents and genuinely cares for each one. Deb is always willing to stay extra and is very flexible to float to help in any area needed. She takes pride in the restorative program and comes up with creative ideas to decorate the room. She also has her family come USD Connects Education Students with Schools in South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska VERMILLION, S.D. — Twenty school districts plan to attend the USD Teacher Candidate Networking Event on Friday, Dec. 4, on the University of South Dakota campus. The goal is to connect schools looking to fill the need for qualified teachers with students looking for a job or student teaching opportunity, said Sherrie Bosse, senior lecturer in USD’s School of Education. USD teacher candidates who are currently student teaching may attend from 1-2 p.m. and USD juniors looking for student teaching opportunities are invited to stop by 2-3 p.m. The event will be held in the Muenster University Center Ballroom. The veteran band from Clay County, founded three decades ago, will play selections from its eclectic repertoire of western swing, country, and old-time popular tunes, plus seasonal favorites. Band co-founder Nick Schwebach sings and plays lead and steel guitars. Owen DeJong, who sports a master’s degree in violin performance, plays the fiddle. They are from rural Wakonda. Larry Rohrer of Beresford sings and plays bass, Dennis Jensen of Alcester sings and plays guitar, and Al Remund of rural Beresford plays drums. George, who lives near Avon, sang with Poker Alice in the late1980s and has reunited with the band once or twice annually in Gayville since 2003. There are several residents whom this makes their whole day. We are glad that Deb is part of our family. “Deb is a very caring person. The residents enjoy her and feel empowered and encouraged to participate in restorative care,” comments Gayle Matzke, Director of Nursing, Sanford Vermillion Medical Center. Deb is a native of Turn, Iowa and currently resides in Newcastle, NE. Deb has four children and two grandchildren. In Deb’s spare time she likes to be Grandma and hold her grandbabies. Vermillion Community Theatre is holding auditions for their winter production of the musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 7 p.m. at 226 E. Main Street (United Church of Christ, Congregational). This lively show has parts for adult men and women of various ages. The Director is Jo Nesmith with Matt Nesmith as the music director. There are audition forms and information on the website: vermillioncommunitytheatre.org. Performances are scheduled for February 12-15, 2016 at the Vermillion Event Center next to Howler’s. On Friday and Saturday there will be a social time at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the show. On Sunday, the social time will start at 2 p.m. Tickets will be will go on sale February 1, 2015 at the Nook ‘n Cranny. Information will be updated on the website.
