5
Things To Know
About Shopping
For Your Gown
You’ve never bought a dress like this before so here are five
things you should consider before starting your shopping:
• Don’t Bring an Entourage - a wedding dress is a personal
statement of who you are as a bride, too many opinions
and the dress becomes less and less about your preferences.
1 or 2 trusted colleagues (whether that is your mom, sister
or a friend) keeps the focus on your dream wedding dress.
• Buy from an independent Full Service Bridal Salon – for
the most important gown of your life, don’t just trust it to
anyone – the online site or the high pressured commission
paid sales clerk at a chain store are not with you through
the whole process - Fit is everything – trust an expert in
fittings and alterations to help you pick the right dress for
your body and to be there with you through the fitting
process.
• Know Your Budget – nothing is worse than falling in love
with a dress you can not afford – what started as “just try
it on for the fun of it” becomes a nightmare when you
cannot have it and nothing else compares to it and that is
no way to start your wedding planning.
• Consider the Spirit of the Wedding - venue, weather
and formality of the wedding should be considered
when choosing your gown – if your venue screams “ultra
formal” your gown should too or you may want to avoid
fur and lush fabrics for a beach wedding.
• Live your Fantasy – This is your dream and your
big day so enjoy the process and wear what makes
you feel beautiful – in the end that is what matters,
you want to give your best self to your groom.
