6 Broadcaster Press May 21, 2019 www.broadcasteronline.com May 19 – 25, 2019 CPR Program In 2018, the Vermillion Clay County EMS Association (VCCEMS) provided CPR for 463 community members, making Vermillion a safer place. Jolley Elementary School faculty and staff are some of the community members who received CPR training from VCCEMS in the past, and they used their skills to save a life. When an individual collapsed at the school in the fall of 2018, personnel responded quickly and called 911, administered CPR, and used the AED machine. Those who took action were awarded the American Heart Association Heart Saver Hero Award. The VCCEMS Association hopes to make Vermillion even safer by offering certification programs to more local businesses, organizations, and schools in the future.
