“The Worst Two Seconds in
Music History”
Sweet Trip is a
band. They are
from San
Francisco,
California. They
have a song
called “Fruitcake and
Cookies”. At exactly four
minutes and twenty-four
seconds in, the instrumental,
consisting of a plucky guitar
melody sitting atop a harsh,
glitchy beat, gives way
entirely. At four minutes and
twenty-six seconds, the music
returns; this time it appears as
a wall of sound, bursting with
distortion and heavenly vocals.
In between these two
moments are the worst two
seconds in music history.
album, at least for a brief
period of time. During the
previous three songs, the
band creates a musical world
shown perfectly by the cover.
One that evokes the natural
beauty of a rainbow and vast
clouds, but also features the
undercurrent of a uniform and
mechanical future. This world
is all-encompassing and
immersive, at least until those
two dreaded words are
spoken. “Breakdown baby”.
When co-singer Roberto
Burgos utters this phrase, the
world that has been built up for
the past 1,159 seconds is
shattered like glass. And the
reason why is a simple one:
it’s humorous.
Velocity: Design: Comfort.
is a good album. Its blend of
electronic glitch pop and noisy
indie rock draws from very
clear influences but, combines
them in a beautiful way that is
uniquely its own. I make that
statement as a preface for this
one: the two seconds in
question kind of ruin the
Humor is a wonderful
thing, obviously, but it can be
direly misplaced. I recently
watched the 2009 film Moon,
and it also featured some illadvised humor. For a few brief
scenes during the middle of
the movie, two clones of the
same person meet each other,
and the tone turns from
dramatic and somber to
sarcastic and light-hearted,
before returning to its original
mood. The humor feels
awkward and out of place,
much like the “breakdown
baby” moment I so loathe.
Immediately afterward, the
album retreats back to what it
does well. However, it feels
somewhat off. Like the rest of
the song is not quite genuine.
Thankfully, however, this
feeling is long gone by the
time the hour and thirteen
minutes run time is through.
Perhaps some greater life
lesson can be extrapolated
from this, that little mishaps
that seem monumental at the
time have little impact on the
whole. I don’t know, I’m not a
philosopher.

Pros & Cons of “You”
We all know the creepy,
suspenseful, nail biting show
called “You”. Honestly from the
first episode I was hooked.
Just the way that Joe, the main
character, articulates anything
and everything he does, had
me snagged from the
beginning.
When the show was first
recommended to me, I was a
little skeptical, but I binge
watched the whole season in
three days, and had to wait for
almost six months for the
second season to come out.
Not going to lie, the whole
stalker view of the show scares
me but then again it also
opens my eyes. Typically when
we hear these stories the POV
is that of the victim. However
this show is told through Joe’s
eyes, the eyes of the stalker,
and he believes that he is
protecting Beck, the victim. But
in reality he is just killing these
people around Beck so that he
can have her all to himself. So
really Joe is just a
psychopathic killer who gets
away with it. Like honestly,
how do you get away with that
many murders? The cops have
to find out at some point. Since
this show is based in modern
times you would think with that
many murders all linked
together, they would hire a
detective to find out who did it.
I personally think the show was
way too good for the message
that it was trying to portray. I
think that if you didn't like the
show you hated it because of
how creepy it was and how
real it appeared through the
killers eyes. -Emily Nau
The show “You” is definitely
a creepy and suspenseful
show, and I too was drawn in
from the beginning, but after
the show continued on I
started getting bored.This
show definitely has its good
parts, but once it started
repeating what happens I saw
it as very predictable.
I just watched this show in
January and I gave up after
watching the first couple of
episodes of the second
season. The first season was
just over all better, but it was
something that was not for me.

I found it interesting as well
how it showed what can
happen outside of what we see
in our everyday lives. I never
saw it as Joe trying to protect
her really, I just saw him as a
straight-up psycho.
I simply did not enjoy this
show because it was just weird
and not my type. I think maybe
if he did different things rather
than repeating himself it could
have been much better. Also,
he claims he loved Beck, but
The end of the
football season has
rolled around and
we find ourselves
on Super Bowl
Sunday. This year in
the Super Bowl we
had the San
Francisco 49ers
and the Kansas City
Chiefs.The Super
Bowl was hosted in
Miami Gardens,
Florida.The national
anthem this year
was sung by Demi
Lovato; for the
halftime show this
year we have
Jennifer Lopez and
Shakira. This is the
first time in 50 years
that Kansas City
fans have seen their
team in the Super
bowl. This year we
are in for a great
game as this is the
first year since 2016
the New England
Patriots have not
made it to the Super
Bowl. I took a poll
on the newspaper
Twitter page asking
everyone who they
thought would win
and Kansas had the
poll by two votes,
both teams have
worked so hard this
year to get here.
Now one of my
favorite parts about
Super Bowl Sunday
is all the good game
day snacks.
“...honestly, how
do you get away
with that many
murders?”
he moved on from her so
quickly onto Love. He also just
“fell in love” with Love so quick,
like love at first sight, I don’t
think it can work literally that
quick. Another thing I found
quite weird about this show,
was how often he fantasized.
That was just weird. I overall
did not enjoy this show as
much as the hype it has
implied I should have. -Ryli

Pilot Pete looks for love in Hometowns
The drama

It was

only four
girls left. The four girls left
are Hannah Ann, Kelsey,
Madison, and Victoria F.
Peter went to Knoxville,
Tennessee to meet
Hannah Ann’s family first.
This date I think went very
well. Hannah Ann
previously wrote a letter to
Peter saying all the things
she loves about him.
When Peter talked to
Hannah Ann’s dad, he told
him that there’s something
real there with her. Her
dad told him not to tell her
he loves her unless he’s
for sure. Hannah Ann’s
dad is very protective of
his daughter and I think
it’s a good thing. Hannah
Ann is one of my top two
choices. I think she’s very
nice and considers other
people’s feelings before
her own and that stands
out in her. I think Hannah
Ann is a good match for
Peter.
The next thing we
know, Peter is in Des
Moines, Iowa. He’s in
Kelsey’s hometown now. I
personally don’t like
Kelsey that much. She
seems like a girl that only
cares about herself and
thinks highly of herself.
Her mom told Peter that
when Kelsey loves
someone it’s true love, but
I don’t believe this. I think
Kelsey went on this show
just to become well known
and she doesn’t really
care if she finds true love
with Peter.
Peter then went to
Auburn, Alabama to go
see Madison for a

My personal favorite

my favorite things
about Super Bowl
Sunday is all the
commercials.
Usually I hate
commercials during
the game but this is
when they bring out
all the good and
worth watching
commercials.This
year was a nail
biting game. It had
me on the edge of
my seat. I was
personally rooting
for the Chiefs. The
49ers had it in the
first half and I was
sure they were
going to take the
game, but the
Chiefs had an
amazing comeback
that they worked
hard for all year.
hometown date. I think
Madison is a great match
for Peter. Whenever they
are together, they are so
giggly and silly. Neither of
them stops smiling when
they’re with one another.
Madison is so kind and
sweet and she just lights
up a room when she walks
in. Although there is one
important thing that
Madison hasn’t told Peter
about saving herself for
marriage, I think Peter will
totally understand and it
won’t bother him at all.
Oh my, where do we
even start with Victoria F!
For starters she loves to
start drama. When Peter
went to her hometown
Virginia Beach, Virginia, it
was a disaster. The
beginning of the date
started out great, they
took old time photos, got
ice cream, and even went
to see Hunter Hayes sing.
They danced and sang
while Hunter Hayes stood
in front of them singing,
but then the night came,
and it was a disaster. One
of Peter’s exs stopped him
after the concert and said
watch out for Victoria. He
asked why and she replied
that she likes to break up
relationships. With Peter
being in Victoria’s
hometown he knew he
needed to ask her about it,
so right before he went to
meet her parents, he
brought it up. Victoria
didn’t act the right way.
“Victoria didn’t act
the right way...”
Therefore, I say she likes
to start drama. When
Peter brought it up to her
she started yelling at him
and crying. If she would’ve
just calmed down and
handled this in a calmer
way this night would have
turned out differently. I
strongly don’t think that
Peter should go with
Victoria, with his other
options like Hannah Ann
and Madison I think he
could find the right one for
him.
