South Dakota wins home match, conference match against Omaha
South Dakota volleyball
earned its first home win
of the season on Monday
night with a 3-1 victory
(25-10, 23-25, 25-18, 2518) over the Omaha
Mavericks in Summit
League action.
It was the first win for
the Coyotes in the Coyote
Den. The win moved the
Coyotes to 10-14 this
season, and 4-8 in the
Summit League.
Kendall Kritenbrink
(Gretna, Neb.), who was
named the Summit
League’s Offensive Player
of the Week on Monday,
picked up 20 kills in the
match. She also notched a
block and a block assist.
Sydney Dimke (Ham Lake,
Minn.) and Kim Bulaga
(Crystal Lake, Ill.) both
added eight kills, and Tori
Kroll (Germantown, Wis.)
had 39 assists.
South Dakota basketball
media day set for Oct. 30
The University of
South Dakota’s men’s and
women’s basketball
programs will host their
2012 media day at 11
a.m. Oct. 30 inside the
Muenster University
Center on the USD
campus. The event is free
and open to the public.

coach Dave Boots and
first-year women’s coach
Amy Williams will offer
their views of the
upcoming season.
Coaches and studentathletes from both
squads will be available
for one-on-one
interviews with members
of the media.
The 2012-13 season is
the Coyotes’ second as a
member of the Summit
League. The Coyote
women (23-8, 12-6
Summit) placed third last
season while the men
(10-18, 5-13 Summit)
finished in a tie for
eighth place. Both
programs are NCAAtournament eligible for
the first time. Both
Coyote teams will
compete in the Summit
League Tournament
March 9-12 in Sioux Falls
with an automatic bid on
the line.
USD’s women’s team
begins its season Nov. 9
against Cleveland State
in Cleveland, OH.
USD’s men’s team
opens its season with
three games in three days
at the Global Sports
Showcase hosted by
Wyoming Nov. 14-16.
The Coyotes host
Culver-Stockton in their
home opener Nov. 23.
Riley Haug (Gretna,
Neb.) led the defensive
effort with 17 digs. Bulaga
recorded 12 digs and Katie
Bunkers (Columbus, Neb.)
had 10 digs.
The Coyotes limited the
attack errors, having only
16 over the four sets. They
forced Omaha (6-16, 1-9)
to commit 28 attack errors
in the match.

the Mavericks with 14 kills
in the match.
