Vermillion Rotary plans
community support
The Vermillion
Rotary Club will touch
hundreds of children,
elderly and
disadvantaged people
this year with programs
supported by its 70
members, said President
Jim Peterson.
“We want to make
sure Rotary will be
relevant for the next
generation,” Peterson
said, and he called on
members to suggest new
projects and fund raisers
for the club.
The service club
meets every Tuesday at
noon at the Al Neuharth
Media Center on the
University of South
Dakota campus. Visitors
are always welcome,
Peterson said.
Last year the club
provided $17,600.00 in
direct contributions to
the Vermillion
community that
included everything
from bike helmets for
second graders to
scholarships, backpack

Reopening at 10:00am on Monday, November 19 using
the entrance at the northwest corner of the building.
*The Library and City staff will be working hard and

coming year is to
develop a website for the
Vermillion club and sign
up at least 10 new
members. He also wants
to include college-age
volunteers in club
projects and be more
visible in the
community.
The Vermillion
Rotary board includes
David Herbster, past
president; Debbie
Reaves, vice president;
Kathy Chandler,
secretary; Doug Tuve,
treasurer; and board
members Art Mabry,
Craig Thompson, Lora
Lee Hensel, and Kevin
Haselhorst.
Rotary has 1.2 million
members in 34,000 clubs
worldwide who believe
in “service above self.”

education and job
training, provide clean
water, combat hunger,
improve health and
sanitation, and work to
eradicate polio.
