A deputy responded and found the sign had been blown over by wind and re-set the sign. 06/22/14 16:21 – A deputy investigated a report of young children in Irene damaging a vehicle by scratching it with rocks. 06/22/14 21:27 – Three vehicles were stopped and the drivers were cited for driving around “road closed” barricades on Highway 19 north of Vermillion. 06/22/14 22:37 – A deputy stopped a vehicle and notified the driver of a non-functioning headlight. 06/23/14 06:59 – A deputy investigated a car/deer crash north of Meckling on 456th Avenue. 06/23/14 10:29 – A deputy received a request to check on a selfemployed man who had not been at work for some time. The man was located visiting family out of state and there was no cause for concern. 06/23/14 11:03 – A rural resident reported to a deputy that someone had shot a window of his vehicle with a BB gun and broken it while the vehicle was parked at his residence. 06/23/14 12:50 – A deputy assisted a DCI agent and a Vermillion police detective with the investigation of a report of a Vermillion man producing and possessing child pornography. It was learned much of the offense had occurred in Union County. 06/23/14 15:49 – An inmate was transported to the emergency room after complaining of chest pain. The inmate was found to not be experiencing any medical issues and was returned to the jail. 06/23/14 17:52 – A deputy investigated a report from a Burbank man who said he was offered a sweepstakes prize in exchange for a fee to receive the award. The deputy assured the man that this is a scam attempt and discouraged the man from paying the fee. 06/23/14 22:33 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for driving around “road closed” barricades on 306th Street. 06/24/14 05:54 – A deputy investigated a car/deer crash west of Vermillion on Timber Road. 06/24/14 17:03 – A caller reported a drunk driver on Highway 50. A deputy located the vehicle and stopped it. The driver was not drunk but said she was distracted by an unrestrained child misbehaving in the back seat. The woman was cited for failing to properly restrain the child. 06/24/14 17:36 – A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in a cornfield south of Centerville. There was no damage to the vehicle. A resident in the area pulled the vehicle out with his tractor. 06/24/14 18:27 – A deputy investigated a violation of bond conditions in a Yankton County case. The complainant was in Irene at the time. The information will be forwarded to the Yankton County sheriff. 06/24/14 20:18 – Workers repairing road damage on Highway 46 due to flooding reported a vehicle driving around barricades and through the work area. A deputy located the vehicle in the prohibited area and cited the driver for the offense. 06/25/14 09:07 – A complaint was received of vehicles failing to stop on Frog Creek Road at 302nd Street. Information was shared with deputies for increased patrol as time permits. 06/25/14 09:47 – An inmate was transported to a dentist appointment and then returned to the jail. 06/25/14 10:01 – An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County Jail to Clay County for a court appearance. 06/25/14 16:39 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding in Burbank. 06/25/14 16:40 – A Burbank resident reported a suspicious vehicle parked in town. A deputy located a satellite TV salesman who had left the car there while doing door to door sales. 06/25/14 19:50 – A rural resident reported a man who was involved in a court proceeding in which he was a witness was parked near his residence. A deputy explained the process of getting a protection order if necessary. The man had not yet committed a crime. 06/26/14 08:04 – A complaint was received of a vehicle driving around barricades closing University Road. The driver was located. Since the violation was not observed by the deputy, no citation was issued but the complainant was advised he could sign a complaint. 06/26/14 11:13 – An inmate was transported to the Minnehaha County Jail after a court appearance in Vermillion. 06/26/14 11:23 – A deputy received a report of two teenagers under the age of consent participating in consensual sex. The source of the glass was not known but no vandalism had occurred. 06/26/14 19:55 – A deputy responded to a report of a dog bite in Wakonda. The dog had run away and was described as a black and white terrier. 06/27/14 14:01 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on the Highway 50 Bypass. 06/27/14 15:31 – A man was transported to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal. 06/27/14 18:18 – A deputy located and arrested a wanted person in Vermillion. 06/28/14 10:17 – A deputy responded to a report of cattle loose north of Meckling. The owner was notified. 06/28/14 10:33 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding south of Wakonda. 06/28/14 13:40 – A deputy checked on a stalled vehicle near Meckling. No one was present. Another deputy checked later to make sure the vehicle was not a hazard and found it was gone. 06/28/14 20:01 – A deputy responded to a report that ATVs were driving on private property southeast of Vermillion. Upon arrival the ATVs were gone and it was found that some of the property owners involved had given permission but the caller had not. 06/28/14 21:09 – A deputy received a complaint of vehicles driving on minimum maintenance roads near Meckling and causing damage to them. 06/28/14 22:35 – A deputy responded to a complaint of fireworks being discharged in Wakonda. No fireworks were observed upon arrival. 06/28/14 22:43 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was notified of a non-functioning headlight. 06/28/14 23:28 – A deputy investigated a car/deer crash on Highway 50 west of Meckling.
