POLICE REPORT
MONDAY, NOV. 10
6:23 p.m. - Complainant reported
that a woman he knew had taken his
debit card and spent all his money.
An investigation was conducted and
the information was sent to the
States Attorney.
TUESDAY, NOV. 11
4:05 p.m. - Caller reported that a
business said they refunded his debit
card but he had been checking all
day and the refund had not shown
up. Officers spoke with the business
who proved they had processed the
refund.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 12
9:22 a.m. - While on a traffic stop
the passenger of the vehicle provided a false name to the officer.
Further investigation revealed the
man was wanted out of Pennington
County for obstructing police. The
man was arrested on the warrant and
charged with giving false information.
12:36 p.m. - While on patrol, an
officer recognized a driver as a man
who had an active Clay County
Warrant for his arrest. The man was
arrested for the Clay County Warrant
and for driving while suspended.
6:08 p.m. - Officers conducted
five compliance checks on alcohol
license holders. Three passed and
two failed. The failing employees
were cited for furnishing alcohol to a
minor.
THURSDAY, NOV. 13
12:40 p.m. - Caller reported that
a woman had made statement about
self harm after being told about additional fees she would owe. Officers
tracked the woman down and spoke
to her. They determined the woman
was not a danger to herself, just
upset at the fees. No further action.
11:56 p.m. - Caller threatened to
harm himself. Officers responded
and determined the man was a threat
to himself and needed medical attention. Officer took the man into protective custody.
FRIDAY, NOV. 14
6:25 a.m. - Caller reported an exboyfriend trying to get into her residence. On arrival the first time the
man had left the area. Officers started to search for him when a second
911 call came in that the man had
returned and was trying to kick open
the front door. When officer arrived
they found the front door broken
open and the man standing inside
cornering the caller. The man refused
to responded to commands to raise
his hands and surrender and a taser
was deployed. The man was arrested
for domestic assault and trespassing.
6:12 p.m. - A local business
called about several shoplifters they
had caught. Officers responded and
investigated. Four underage men had
taken or attempted to take about
$600 worth of merchandise without
paying for it. Information was referred
to the States Attorney.
6:35 p.m. - Caller reported her
son had run away from home.
Officers conducted a search and
located the son who was fine. He
was transported home.
SATURDAY, NOV. 15
4:11 a.m. - Complainant came to
the station to report a dispute. The
complainant was intoxicated and
upset and said he felt that another
man had stolen his gloves and was
now refusing to let him come into his
home to search for the gloves.
Officers attempted to locate the
gloves without success.
10:32 a.m. - While on patrol, an
officer stopped a vehicle after a near
collision. The driver did not have a
driver's license and was cited.
3:24 p.m. - Caller requested to
speak with an officer regarding a
custody issue involving her soon-tobe ex-husband and daughter.
Officers spoke with the caller and
provided information on how to handle disputes. No crimes had
occurred.
5:30 p.m. - Officers responded to
a single vehicle multiple injury accident. The accident was caused by
poor road conditions. Four of the five
vehicle occupants were transported
by ambulance. The injured were all
treated and released.
9:11 p.m. - Caller reported an
elderly man had pulled up in a car
and spoken to her daughter. Caller
was concerned who the man was
and provided a description of his
vehicle. Officers checked the area
but were not able to locate the subject.
10:18 p.m. - Officers responded
to a local casino regarding a verbal
dispute. The dispute was between
and employee and a patron. At the
employee's request the patron was
told to leave the business and not
return.

SUNDAY, NOV. 9
7:50 a.m. - A deputy responded
along with EMS to a medical emergency south of Vermillion.
1:20 p.m. - A deputy investigated
a theft of a wagon wheel attached to
a fence at a rural residence near
Beresford.
2:36 p.m. - A deputy responded
to an alarm at an Irene business. The
alarm was determined to be a malfunction.
7:24 p.m. - A deputy responded
along with EMS to a medical emergency east of Vermillion.
MONDAY, NOV. 10
6:53 a.m. - A deputy responded
to a vehicle fire west of Meckling. A
semi had a fire at its rear axle. The
driver stopped and disconnected the
tractor from the trailer to minimize the
damage. Fire units responded and
put out the fire.
8:08 a.m. - The School Resource
Officer assisted the Jolley School
Principal in convincing a child to go
to school.
9:27 a.m. - A deputy investigated
a report of truant kids who attend the
Beresford School.
TUESDAY, NOV. 11
4:48 a.m. - A deputy investigated
a car/deer accident on Greenfield
Road.
1:16 p.m. - A rural resident on
Bluff Road reported a chocolate lab
has strayed to his property. The dog
will be transported to the Humane
Society if the owner does not report it
missing.
2:22 p.m. - An inmate was transported from the Minnehaha County
Jail to the Clay County Jail after he
violated Clay County probation while
in Sioux Falls.
5:45 p.m. - A deputy located a
wanted person in Vermillion. The
man was arrested and booked into
jail.
WEDSNESDAY, NOV. 12
1:00 p.m. - The School Resource
Officer assisted High School administrative staff with two girls who were
caught smoking in the bathroom. The
girls were disciplined using school
disciplinary policy.
4:35 p.m. - A deputy assisted a
Highway Patrol Trooper with a traffic
stop which resulted in two arrests for
drug charges.
THURSDAY, NOV. 13
3:06 p.m. - A vehicle was
stopped and the driver was cited for
speeding on Highway 19 north of
Vermillion.
6:55 p.m. - A deputy investigated
a car/deer accident on Highway 50
east of Vermillion.
8:51 p.m. - A caller reported a
vehicle was westbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 50. A deputy
responded and the vehicle was located in Yankton County.
FRIDAY, NOV. 14
1:03 p.m. - An inmate was transported to the State Penitentiary in
Sioux Falls after sentencing. Another
inmate was then picked up in Mitchell
and transported to the Clay County
Jail after being arrested in Beadle
County for a Clay County warrant.
2:26 p.m. - A patient was transported to the Human Services Center
in Yankton for an involuntary mental
health committal.
3:33 p.m. - A patient was transported from the hospital in Vermillion
to the Human Services Center in
Yankton for an involuntary mental
health committal.
5:25 p.m. - A vehicle was
stopped and the driver was cited for
speeding and driving with a revoked
driver's license south of Wakonda.
6:12 p.m. - A deputy assisted a
Vermillion Police Officer with multiple
shoplifters caught at a Vermillion
business.
SATURDAY, NOV. 15
12:16 a.m. - A deputy assisted a
driver of a disabled vehicle near
Meckling.
4:21 p.m. - A caller reported a
parked vehicle causing a hazard on
Greenfield Road. A deputy responded
and found the owner was hunting
nearby. The owner moved the vehicle.
5:01 p.m. - A caller reported a dispute over a hunter trespassing. The
hunter had already left the area and
was not located.
5:23 p.m. - After a caller reported
a vehicle's driver was intoxicated, a
deputy located the vehicle in Wakonda
and arrested the driver for DWI.
